SHINE Ibiza Closes Debut Season In Style

It’s Monday night and we are en route to Privilege, one of the island’s iconic venues, as we get ready to say goodbye to Shine Ibiza, Paul van Dyk’s trance party that has really caught the imagination this summer. After a series of fantastic gatherings that saw some of the biggest international trance heads join the talented artist in the booth for his debut Shine summer, it was time to bring then curtain down, and we were looking forward to being a part of it.

As Ibiza 2018 starts the clubbing marathon of closing down, it will be reflected on as a summer that saw a lot of change, especially amongst some of the bigger, more established club parties and DJs. One move that caught the eye early doors was Paul van Dyk, a regular at Cream Amnesia for over a decade, decided timing was right to try his own party, Shine, and offered a trance journey every Monday at Privilege. The result was nothing short of amazing as he invited a selection of high-profile DJs and producers to embark on a trance journey and the island responded. It’s fair to say that trance, as a genre, has not held the esteemed position in Ibiza as it once did, but, after the summer that we have just witnessed.

The debut could not have gone much better for Paul van Dyk and the SHINE Ibiza team, as island residents and clubbing tourists joined forces to turn Privilege’s Vista club into a weekly celebration of the emotive dance genre. Guests that lit up the summer include Ben Nicky, Bryan Kearney, Aly & Fila, The Thrillseekers, Simon Patterson, Neelix, Alex MORPH, Cosmic gate and Menno De Jong, to name only a few. There was never going to be a problem attracting the very best international talent, when Paul van Dyk sends an invitation, it is accepted with enthusiasm! The closing was a fitting finale of a summer success as Paul invited Jordan Suckley B2B Alex MORPH and Chris Bekker to the booth.

Every artist played a part in producing one of the most vibrant atmospheres of the season but the star if the show and every show previously was undoubtedly PVD. The Berman artist has been an integral part of the Ibiza summer for over two decades and boasts a huge loyal following. It seems that every one of them made the effort to get to Ibiza to support their favourite as he ventured into unknown territory for the first time in 20 years, resulting in one of the most exciting additions to the Ibiza scene this summer. As the team takes a well-earned rest, thoughts are no doubt already turning to Ibiza 2019, we can’t wait!
